An apt description of the Left
Right Side Tables could be Old World Futurism. A mastery
of geometric form and an architectural knowledge of weight
transfer means there is not a 90° angle to found; nor
are there any screws, nails or metal of any kind holding the
tables together. The cantilevered shelves, which have been
tapered with a hand plane, are rabbeted and mortised into
the counter-tilted backs of the tables. The backs are made
of matched planks and feature a live edge—the actual
edge of the tree. Every piece is connected in some way to
every other piece; this interconnectivity gives the Left Right
Side Tables their simultaneous lightness and sturdiness and
profound aesthetic and functional balance.
